Course List

The Core Plan is the best way to gain a strong understanding of financial modeling. Throughout the course the trainee acts as the "advisor" and the instructor acts as the "client." Our programs are designed to instruct you in building accurate and complete models from scratch. Our unique method takes a hands on approach, making sure you can build each financial model efficiently and effectively before the courses are complete.

    Course Description

    Financial Statements

Financial Statements explores building a financial model complete with projections.  An income statement, cash flow statement, and balance sheet are constructed along with a working capital schedule, depreciation, deferred tax schedule, and a multi-level debt schedule.  Using an example of a distribution company, we will run equity and debt raising scenarios to demonstrate the model’s functionality.

    Mergers and Acquisitions

Mergers and Acquisitions explores the financial statement impact on a buying assets, divesting assets, and corporate mergers and acquisitions.  We will analyze the impact of merging two corporations together through several different modeling techniques used on the street, including an accretion / dilution analysis (mini merger model) and a full blown merger model.

    Prerequisite: Financial Statements

    Leveraged Buyouts

Leveraged buyouts (LBO’s) explores the return on an investment (IRR) in a company.  Through two popular methods, running an IRR analysis on paper and building a full blown model, you will gain the complete understanding of how to assess an estimated return on an investment.  We will explore and model various popular types of debts used in a typical LBO, and discuss the impact of LBO’s in today’s environment.  Even today, these methods are used widely by private equity firms, investment banks and funds.

    Prerequisite: Financial Statements

    Valuation

Three popular techniques are discussed exploring how to value a corporate entity: a comparable company analysis, precedent transactions analysis, and a discounted cash flow analysis (DCF).  One of our fund practitioners will demonstrate these techniques valuing a public company.  Together, we will build a complete valuation analysis as done on the street and compare our results with a wall street analyst report.

    Case Studies

The case study course is a deeper analysis into Financial Statements.  A public company model is built with valuation analysis based on SEC documents.  Techniques such as normalizing net income and accuracy in projections are learned.
